Here commonra explains which entries commonra.com may leave on your device, what each kind is for, how an answer to the cookie notice is kept and how you can change it at any time.
What cookies and similar technologies are
A cookie is a short piece of text that a site leaves in your browser to remember a setting or a choice. Browsers have a comparable local storage area for small entries that stay until they are deleted, and this policy treats both in the same way.
Consent and the cookie notice
If a notice is displayed and browser storage is available, it saves nothing but your choice, consent or refusal, in the local storage of the current browser (localStorage) and then stays hidden. On a different browser or device it appears once more, because the value was never stored there, and it returns where storage is blocked.
Which cookies this website uses
Only a few entries are needed to run this website, which presents information and contact details rather than an account area or an online shop. Strictly necessary entries keep the pages usable and secure and include any value that remembers a decision about a cookie notice; for them no consent is required under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).
The server that delivers this website sets one cookie of this kind. It contains only a random value, nothing that identifies you by name, and serves to recognise a returning browser and to protect the site against automated abuse. The cookie is renewed whenever you come back and is deleted 30 days after your last visit.
Storage periods
Cookies either last for the current session and are discarded when the browser is closed, or they remain for a limited period so that a setting is still known on a later visit. A value saved by a cookie notice is given no expiry date and stays in the browser until it is deleted there.
Withdrawing your consent and deleting cookies
Consent given earlier can be withdrawn at any time, as easily as it was given: clear the data this website has stored in your browser and open a page again, so the saved answer is gone and, where a notice is shown, you can decide once more. Independently of that, every common browser offers settings for cookies and site data, where stored entries can be inspected or deleted.
Content embedded from other providers
At present no content from other providers with cookies of its own is built into this website. Should a map or a video be embedded in future, its provider may store information on your device as soon as it is shown, and this page would be changed before that happens.
Advertising, tracking and personal data
There are no advertising or retargeting cookies here and no tracking across websites, and we do not build profiles of visitors. Entries that can be connected to a person count as personal data; the privacy policy of commonra sets out why they are used, how long they are kept and what your rights are.
Changes and contact
Whenever the technology behind commonra.com changes or new rules require it, this policy is updated, and the current version, with the date of its last revision, is always the one published here. If something is unclear, write to hello@commonra.com or call 01743 358216.
